Danger Dogs

Active Time: 10 minutes

Total Time: 25 minutes

Ingredients:

  • Two hot dog buns
  • Two all beef skin on hot dogs (such as Boarshead)
  • Two strips uncured bacon
  • Your choice of condiments

Process:

  1. Slice buns, spray with oil (coconut oil is recommended), place into basket, turn air fryer on, press “toast” button and press start.
  2. Wrap hot dogs with bacon, using a toothpick through hot dog to hold start of bacon in place. As you finish wrapping, use a second toothpick to hold the other end.
  3. After four minutes, start to check the buns. Remove and set aside after lightly crisp, but before overly dry. Cancel air fryer program.
  4. Add bacon-wrapped hot dogs to basket, start air fryer, press “bacon” and press start.
  5. Check progress of bacon periodically. Hot dog will become well done, but the important part is to get the bacon lightly crispy.
  6. Use a tong remove hot dogs to a plate. Remove toothpicks, and place into buns.
  7. Finish with your imagination. Add cheese, diced veggies and/or any sauce you love. (I love Mexican crema and spicy salsa on mine.)

Pro Tip: As an option, you can slice the hot dog open, stuff with cheese, and wrap with two slices of bacon. Be sure cheese is completely sealed inside bacon so it won’t all drip out in the air fryer.
